Long-term partnership

DB Schenker's Commitment to the Olympics

DB Schenker's commitment to the Olympics already has a tradition. In January 2003 the International Olympic Committee (IOC) struck an agreement with Schenker AG on a long-term strategic partnership.

In accordance with the agreement  DB Schenker will be the official supplier to the IOC for haulage and customs processing for the Olympic Games.  DB Schenker will work with the IOC and with the Organization Committees of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens (ATHOC), the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin (TOROC) and the 2008 Games in Beijing (BOCOG).

After Salt Lake City and Athens, Schenker Deutschland AG has once more been appointed as an "official co-partner of the German Olympic teams for Turin 2006 and Beijing 2008" as well as an "official Olympic co-partner." A corresponding contract was signed with Deutsche Sportmarketing GmbH (DSM) in November 2003.

The trouble-free arrangements and the success of the Olympic Games in Sydney, in which the Australian local company was involved as an official supplier, showed that large-scale events require a special logistics service. This applies just as much to the sportspeople and their sponsors as it does to the journalists and television units from all over the world. This is why  DB Schenker was the official supplier of customs and haulage services in the USA at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.  DB Schenker was also involved in the 2002 Winter Paralympic Games and is a supplier to the US Olympic team until 2004.

DB Schenker has been an official supplier since the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. "With our commitment to the Olympics we can easily demonstrate how important integrated logistics is to all areas of life," says Hans-Jörg Hager, the Chairman of Schenker Deutschland AG and a Member of the Board of Schenker AG. "Here too it's all about the crucial criteria of punctuality, performance, flexibility and quality."
