European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010

Since 1985 the Council of the European Union has bestowed the title of “European Capital of Culture” on at least one European city per year. The chosen “Capital of Culture” presents numerous cultural events throughout its respective year. This year the EU have selected the city of Essen and the Ruhr metropolitan area to be "European Capitals of Culture".

DB assumes the role of main sponsor of RUHR.2010. The organiser of the Capital of Culture year,RUHR.2010 GmbH, and Deutsche Bahn AG signed a cooperation agreement at the beginning of March this year. Deutsche Bahn’s commitment involves financial and non-financial support, provided across the entire corporate product portfolio. DB Schenker coordinates the entire logistics activities for RUHR.2010.
